Meetings & Events

There's always something going on at OAS! Whether we're hosting a world class expert to talk about birdie behavior, our local bird veterinarians, Dr. Paul Welch or Dr. Carol Best, to tell us the latest in avian medicine, or having a special "Toy Time" meeting where we get together and rejuvenate old bird toys, OAS has lots of exciting things going on.  The members of the Oklahoma Avicultural Society would like to invite you to join us at one of our meetings.

The OAS holds its meetings each month, except December, from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the Hardesty South Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., Tulsa (just off the Creek Turnpike, east of Memorial).  Generally the meetings are the fourth Sunday of the month, but flex depending upon long holiday weekends.  Check the calendar for the exact date.

Each meeting has a social gathering, followed by a business portion followed by the fun stuff...the program part. Our interesting and informative programs cover a variety of avian topics including parrot behavior, general health care, nutrition, toy safety and the latest medical and legislative updates. Social time is for meeting new members and guests, swapping bird stories and enjoying the refreshments. This is also a great time for members to check out DVDs from the OAS Library, or maybe buy a new bird toy or other bird-related items for sale.

You don't have to have a feathered companion to attend the OAS meetings, although sometimes members bring their feathered kids (which we refer to as "fids"). Guests are welcome anytime, and can ask questions of the members or the program experts.  There is no cost to attend the meetings, and we especially like to have families come learn more about keeping pet birds.
